Description

Our Lampworking Glasses Model 533 features an anodized aluminum frame with an ultra-sleek wrap-around design. Spring hinges assure a secure fit and adjustable nose pads eliminate pressure points on the nose and create a non-slip fit. ANSI Z87 approved. The lenses are Polycarbonate Sodium Flare with an anti-scratch coating. Excellent for Soft Glass Working application. These Lampworking Glasses Model 533 fits Large to X-Large head sizes.

This polycarbonate is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection.  It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for glassworking where Infrared protection is needed.  This filter is more for soft glass usage

Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
